It’s Vicks family that tried to compare the 2, as far as I’m aware the naacp hasn’t taken that stance on the issue. I live in hampton roads Virginia, so this whole Vick story is local news to us!

It is simply ignorance and an unwillingness to accept responsibility for ones own wrong behavior.
I know in this country it is a bit repulsive (to me too) but if they humanely killed the dogs for food I would have a lot less problem with it.

The NAACP and the ACLU are bedfellows. The ACLU thinks it is a great idea to support NAMBLA. The NAACP is on any case it thinks will give it a soundbite. You can’t compare what they say to anything rational. Understand they have their own political agenda and don’t worry. I believe they want to create their own little football team of heroin addicts, wife beaters, dog killers , and people who generally break the law. They are useless to actual thinking human beings.

They are trying to protect this talented man’s career but I am afraid it is too late to stick their head in the sand and pretend it’s not a horrible thing to do. A deer is not a companion animal although I think they are very nice and beautiful. A hunter does not torture and maim the deer while betting on its death. The organization needs to wake up and smell the campfire! Dog fighting is cruel, disgusting and illegal. They should pick a better group of people to defend and advocate for! Dogs that are treated like that? I wonder what humans like that are like around their kids? It’s a disgrace.

I am an avid deer hunter, and dog owner- I kick my dog’s rears if they fight over food. Dog fighting is bad in many ways, but breeding and training dogs to be aggressive is dangerous, I **** reading about some dog mauling a child, and by the way I like leighcheri’s answer. NAACP, PETA and the ACLU should be thrown in the pit with mad dogs and fighting roosters!!

I haven’t heard them say that it’s the same as hunting deer, but I did hear the head of the NAACP say that if Brett Favre, Tom Brady, or Peyton Manning were the one who did it, America would have no problem with it. The most ****** people in the world are the NAACP. Don’t even get me started on the ACLU.

to be honest with ya , i do not agree with what he did, but the fact of the matter is if you did it you would have got a slap on the wrist a bunch of fines and time served, because he is who he is they will use him for an example..he lost his carreer, his freedom, his money , how much more should he have to pay..i know of killer sof humans that have received less, rapists who received less, at least be fair about it..and i live in the country too and as much as you liek to think its for the meat i see dear head trophies in every house lodge and restaraunt…..so im pretty sure its for the sport

Of course it’s nuts, but it’s a legal tactic of slinging mud in hopes some of it will stick someplace. And there are enough people who don’t know anything about hunting that it’ll get some traction. Think of the world you’re talking about here: His client stands to lose tens of millions of dollars that he was making for playing a childrens’ game!

It’s do bogus isn’t it??? Dog fighting is unlawful due to the fact that you’re trying to make dogs kill each other for money betting, but yet deer hunting is a recreational sport because the deer population is high and the deer doesn’t feel the seering pain of another’s teeth sinking into your skin….. I think that people need to lay off of us deer hunters because we’re not making two animals kill each other over money. Dog fighting is the bad sport. So whoever has a problem with deer hunting can go talk to a hunter in person. They’ll laugh this story out of you!!!

This is simple and excuse me if I sound ******. The NAACP is a special interest group. They are trying to save the rear-ends of this Michael Vick his accomplices and the other guy accused of abusing animals, because they happen to be black. The method of doing so is by attempting to convince people that the cruelty of dog abuse and dog fighting is similar to hunting. The NAACP used hunting as an example because it is percieved to be violent and is a pastime of most americans particularly the white variety. The idea is to claim that what Vick and others do to dogs is no worse than what any white guy does to a deer out in the woods. Since hunting is legal, then punishing Vick would be a ****** double standard. The arguement would be something like this “White people are allowed to hunt which is violent, so why can’t Michael Vick kill a few dogs, it isn’t that much worse than what white people do”.
Personally the NAACP sickens me. They stand up for Vick and other black criminals who are nothing more than thugs who can play professional sports. If Vick wasn’t good at football he would be in jail already where he may belong.

There is obviously no connection between the sport of hunting and the crime of dogfighting.
The facts and logic have never prevented the NAACP from making ridiculous statements before, I don’t know why facts or logic would stop them from verbally expressing their ignorance of the situation this time either.They are for the most part Urbanites. City-dwellers, who know nothing of deer hunting OR dogfighting, for the reason that NEITHER occur in cities! It seems to me that they forget the fact that many blacks DO NOT live in urban areas… or maybe they just don’t support THEM and THEIR rights? Black people hunt too.The NAACP is trying to play a race card with a deck that doesn’t even have one in it.
The thing that really bothers me about this is that the NAACP is portraying hunting as a whites-only sport, and dogfighting as a black-dominated “sport”.
That should be offensive to us all. regardless of color.

Anyone who’s ever hunted in the deep south can tell you black americans love the sport of hunting as much as white americans do. There are numerically more white hunters than black hunters simply because there are numerically more whites than blacks in the entirety of the general population.
Furthermore dog-fighting has traditionally been a white-dominated crime. It’s gained in popularity amongst gang types in recent years, perhaps, but It surely did not originate with blacks. It originated most likely in Rome, a white-dominated society.
By portraying it as a black phenomonon, is the NAACP trying to lay the credit…I mean the BLAME for dogfighting on the people it supposedly represents? Looks that way to me. If I was black, I’d be really offended by this!

Fights DO always end in a kill.
There is simply no logical grounds for a comparison.
There’s an apalling lack of truth in their words.
The resurgance in dogfighting is as much a sign of moral decay as the “Girls Gone Wild” videos are.
Be offended. But be offended becaust the CRIME of dogfighting is MORALLY WRONG.
Hunters, black and white, are by-and-large quite moral, law-abiding, church-going people.
Dogfighters, black and white, are by-and-large
