I hear my homestate statistics. It's a pretty small number. Playing baseball or football is just as dangerous. Youth hunts were started to try to draw more kids into hunting. As another person said, accidental shootings are quite rare. Hunting fatalities and major injuries are largely from falling out of tree stands. In this state in 2006, 1 man was killed because he was shot. I had a close call with an inexperienced hunter once. Nothing will get your heart racing (and **** you off) like deer slugs whizzing over your head!
