What is your thought on using attractants when deer hunting?
Joe asked: Do you use doe urine, cover scents etc.? Do you think it makes a big difference?

yes.We have a deer processing business and the ones that do have the big deer. The best weapon you have is patience. time and time again I see these little deer and then they ask for a discount cause it’s only 40 pounds.I didn’t tell you to shoot it I tell them.

I use the H.S. scent discs – “Fresh Earth” – as a cover scent. As far as attractants are concerned, I’ve used them but have not had a lot of success because of them. They may hold an animal in the area a little longer, but I can’t say that they have brought an animal in from a distance. Stay clean, stay downwind – that’s the best scent advice I know.

Yes I use tinks#69. I have had some luck with the scent at least causes enough of a distraction for a good hunt. I am not sure if it brings them in or not but it definitely keeps their attention. I have had several deer walk right up to a scent bomb and start sniffing and never even looked up. I think it gives you an advantage but ultimately hunting success comes to the patient individuals
